Monday Musings: Just Be

blind red-shouldered hawk 3 with frame

She is almost blind. Lives in her little apartment at the sanctuary. She is safe, and well cared for. Now that she cannot manage on her own.

There is some sadness in her. Maybe a fleeting memory of her youth. Soaring high up in the bright blue skies. Carried by the winds over green forests and sparkling seas.

But most of all there is contentment. Quiet enjoyment of life. And appreciation. The light breeze moving her feathers. The sun warming her old bones. And the love of a human, who takes her out on walks, touching her heart. Precious moments to treasure. To just be.

Monday Musings and Weekly Photo Challenge: Inspiration

Birds and children can fly. Yet they are grounded in the present moment.  They don’t live in the past that is no longer here. Or in the future that has not yet arrived. They soak in the experience of now. And dance to the natural rhythm of life. They inspire me.

And so does everything in nature. When the earth gently rolls on its side, night becomes dawn. Light peeks over the horizon. Inviting me to a new day with all new possibilities.

The sunrise colors are vivid. Soft pastels of Grace, and bright colorful streaks of Hope in what otherwise could appear dark. It’s an inspiring moment to take in. To be alive.

And so the day beings. With colors I choose to see. Thoughts and reflections I allow to touch me. And open my heart beyond my limited mind. Inspire.

And when the earth gently rolls onto its other side, I marvel on the softness of the evening. And the golden colors of the sunset. Yet again, I inhale inspiration.

Then it’s time to exhale. It’s time to rest. Time to dream. And feel the peace.

Monday Musings: Between the Storms

Fresh air tingles on my skin. I smell the rain drops still lingering on the grass.  Vibrant green.  Perky. Reaching up and up.  Stretching toward the little bubbles of white in the blue. Respectfully. In silence.

Waking up. Living fully. Present here. Growing with every ray of sun. I breathe. I feel the trees inhale and exhale. I hear the birds sing. I see the face of the wind. And I touch Life. Briefly. Quietly. Between the storms.

Monday Musings: Observe the Wonders

Observe the wonders as they occur around you. Don’t claim them. Feel the artistry moving through and be silent. -Rumi

Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd. – Rumi

Monday Musings: Just One Smile

When I met this graceful Snowy Egret just around dawn yesterday, I felt my heart was smiling.  And I remembered a beautiful poem I had found some time ago. It spoke to me about reaching out, supporting one another, and brightening someone’s day. This is how it goes.

Let my soul smile through my heart

And my heart smile through my eyes,

That I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts.

Paramahansa Yogananda

I thought about it and realized there are sad hearts, for various reasons, all around me. Both physically and virtually. Known and unknown to me. I was walking and contemplating this when I saw a beautiful cloud on the sunrise sky. Whether synchronicity or not, it delivered the message.

If I could help rekindle even one smile in a sad heart this week, I would be happy. Just one smile.

Have a wonderful week. May your heart smile.

Monday Musings: On Love

This weeks musings include six of my favorite quotes on love, with images from nature I feel represent the message. With somewhat creative interpretation.

Perhaps something to ponder. Have a wonderful week. Tiny

Monday Musings: On Silence

“Let silence take you to the core of life.”

“The quieter you become the more able you are to hear.”

Rumi

 “Are you listening?

Be aware of the silence.

Hear life’s depths revealed.

Watch sources of strength be born.

Be still – be present.”
