Today being the first work day after the Big Game here in the US, I have reworked one of my old, somewhat humorous poems about coaching. Maybe something to ponder. Wishing you a wonderful week, Tiny
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
You are my coach.
Everyone has a coach. One cannot get ahead otherwise. You will tell me what to do. Give me a plan for life. The steps and turns. Straightforward and easy. One, two, three. I can use a plan.
Instead you ask me what I want in life. I say everything. Like everyone else. You say, that means nothing.
You are my coach.
Everyone with everything has a coach. One cannot have everything otherwise. Now give me a usable plan for life. The moves and spins. Effortless and clear. One, two, three. I can follow a plan.
Instead you ask me what I want to have. I say I want it all. Like everyone else. You say, that means having nothing.
You are my coach.
Everyone who is somebody has a coach. One cannot reach the top otherwise. Now give me a usable and complete plan for life. The dos and don’ts. Plain and simple. One, two, three. I can execute a plan.
Instead you ask me what I want to be. I say l want to be somebody. Like everyone else. You say, that means being nobody.
You were my coach.
Brilliant, ironic, delightful!
Thanks Cyndi! I’ve met people pretty much like that, sad to say. Just a little exaggeration for emphasis 🙂
Bwahaha! Love it, Tiny ~ some people just want to find a secret detour to the top of the heap . . . without having to do any heavy lifting.
When they don’t get handed life on a Silver Platter, they fire the coach!
Exactly! They don’t like questions, uncomfortable decisions or hard work, they want recipes for success…but life doesn’t work that way. For some it takes quite a bit of time to learn that.
Love it, Tiny! Clever!! 🙂
Thanks Amy….born from my coaching experience 🙂
Good one! Happy Monday after the game – we were cheering for Seattle as they’re so close to us here in Victoria……
Thanks Kathy! I was cheering on them as well…
I have a plan, just need to find it …….looking…… 😉
We’re all looking…but we don’t expect somebody else to do the looking for us 🙂
True, 🙂
Given what I do to earn a living, I smiled broadly at this musing, Tiny. Well communicated. 🙂
I thought you might 🙂 This was inspired by some of the sessions I’ve conducted along the way.
Wow. Great!
Thank you David.
Certainly food for thought, Tiny. 🙂
I hope there is, although said with humor 🙂
I’m sure I heard Coach call you “Grasshopper” as I read through. A uniquely delivered message Tiny – well done.
I think you heard correctly, Mike 🙂 Thank you for your kind comment.
Exactly why I am my own coach. I laughed …. really enjoyed this, Tiny. Thank you! Love, Amy
Thanks Amy for your nice comment! I used to be a coach, among other things, for quite some time, and sometimes people don’t want to take the responsibility for setting their own goals, they don’t know what they want…and expect the coach to come up with a plan for their lives…sad but true in some cases. Being your own coach is always good! Love, Tiny
I was a coach at one time as well, Tiny, and I at times had the most difficult time to get those who I were training, to stick with my goals for them. People like you say do not want to be responsible for themselves, and even when you make those decisions for them, they still fight. *sighs* Human nature is a beast sometimes. ((HUGS))) Amy
Really thought-provoking 🙂
Thanks Celestine. That’s what I was hoping 🙂
Nicely said, Tiny. I’m thinking that now, you are your own coach.
That’s right, I used to coach others for years, now it’s my turn 🙂
It’s funny because it’s true so much of the time!
I enjoy your blog! Thank you for following mine as well 🙂
Great poem on coaching! Thanks for sharing!
Amen!
😀
