When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us. – Alexander Graham Bell
A closed door is … a closed door. And it’s in the past. It doesn’t matter how hard we bang on that door as we cannot walk though it and relive the past. A new door opens in the present. Once we see it, we have a choice whether or not to walk through it.
Is there an open door in my House of Life I am not seeing? Something to ponder this week.
Have a wonderful week, Tiny
Until you remove your foot and avert your eyes from the closing door you often cannot see the new one . . .
You are right Rebecca, the foot is often there trying to keep the closing door open….and that’s hard work, takes all your attention.
It’s best not to look for that other door. You will see it when you least expect it. At least that has been experience. 🙂
I’m sure that can often happen, once you have left the closed door alone 🙂
… and we have windows to look through before the door appears. 🙂
That’s often the case, we can get a peek 🙂
Sending warm thoughts for comfortable pondering…
Thanks Cyndi! Sending warm thoughts in your direction too.
It’s hard to embrace the present when both hands are clinging to the past. Rather than allowing past experiences to dictate our re-actions to new events, we begin to view life with alert curiosity.
Like a water-wheel filling and emptying its buckets as it turns, we empty out who we were to become more fully who we are meant to be.

Enjoy whatever the universe tosses your way because when one door closes, another opens . . . sometimes into a room with a view furnished just for you.
A room with a view, custom furnished just for us, would be the best “prize” for following the guidance we receive! Thanks for your beautiful contribution, Nancy!
Here’s to emptying our buckets!
Now, that’s a good question. Even if you don’t find it, ensuring that you have both eyes wide open and focused on the road ahead will likely yield a few pleasant surprises.
I think you’re right, Maurice. The tendency we humans have to continue staring at the closed door will prevent us from focusing on the road ahead. I remember you have written something similar applied to work life.
Reblogged this on habitsnquirks.
Of course there are open doors and door waiting to be opened. Fact! Great post topic, Tiny!
Of course there is! Thanks Eric.
I sometimes wonder how many open doors I have missed. I know I have walked through some wonderful ones though. Hugs sweet Tiny!
I’ve had similar thoughts, but the main thing is we’re happy with the journey. Many hugs to you too, Maggie!
And sometimes the closed door is just begging to have you kick it open. 🙂
We might be better off resisting that temptation 😀
Ah, where’s your sense of adventure? 😉
It’s still there 🙂 Going on my longest hike on Wednesday…on an uninhabited, pristine island….
Awesome!
Can’t wait!
What a wonderful thought to be with at the beginning of this week!
Thanks Carrie! I think so too.
Yes, there are lots of open doors everywhere that we don’t notice because we get so used to things staying the way they are. But that’s okay because when we are ready for it, there is always a door somewhere! 🙂
The doors are all around us. We can’t always see them.
Since I am looking for houses, I’d really like to find an open door very soon.
Sometimes a closed door may be directing us to a window of opportunity. 😏
It’s likely to do just that when we let go of staring at it and look elsewhere 🙂
How wonderful is this visual? With open minds and hearts, we can always find new paths…Thank you, Tiny!! xo
It is so true! Thank you Shauna.
