“Be like the sun for grace and mercy.
Be like the night to cover others’ faults.
Be like running water for generosity.
Be like death for rage and anger.
Be like the Earth for modesty.
Appear as you are.
Be as you appear.”
– Rumi

Simply be! I like this. Thanks!
Me too! But it’s not always easy…
Powerful words and image and very pertinent for our times.
I came across this quote some time back and loved it. Then today I realized I had taken a picture that would fit with it. All the imperfections showing, but the light makes it beautiful.
Indeed it does.
Awesome!
Yes, it is – he’s my favorite poet.

Rumi’s poetry resonates through the centuries. Often it is a simple and complex message about turning inwards to find what we seek. It is as suggested in this poem being and becoming who we are rather than what someone else wants us to be.
It does resonate indeed! Thanks for your beautiful comment and for sharing.
You are welcome.
Powerful words, Tiny.
Yes they are, worth repeating many times.
Profound words…Rumi speaks from the heart!
He does indeed! Thanks for visiting.
Beautiful.
That it is. Rumi’s poetry is still both beautiful and relevant.
Beautiful words!!!
Happy you liked it, Gloria…he’s my favorite poet. Have a great weekend!
Deep words to live by, yet it is not the easy Road, is it, Tiny? I Love your image and am wondering how you did the blue background. The way you framed everything is so simple, yet so profound. (((HUGS))) Amy
Not an easy road…but luckily we don’t need to be “perfect”. I sometimes take these pics of trees, leaves, flowers against the blue sky when the light comes in an angle I like. This is one of those. The blue is sky with different degrees of light…the sun came in from the right upper corner…and then I played with the light little more and smoothened it by blur. I thought the blues and the greens were so beautiful. Happy you liked it. Have a wonderful weekend, dear Amy. Many hugs!!
