Stone fences erected by old beliefs
effectively obstruct creativity
feet get tangled in dead branches
fallen from the tree of confidence
and yet, the journey continues
by putting one word after another
stubbornly, through the dark hours
of the night in NaNo Land.
It’s a hard slog at the moment it seems 😦
I guess that’s how it is for someone trying to do something new for the first time…ups and downs. One day everything flows nicely and I can see the novel like it was already there on my table, and the next day it’s like hiking in a dark forest full of obstacles. I think the key is to take breaks, do something else and then return to the forest with a flashlight 🙂
Yes, a flashlight! What a good idea. A solar powered one if possible, do you think?
I think a virtual flashlight would be solar powered, definitely!
So many words, so little time . . .
I know, have to take night shifts every now and then….
We make pyramids upside down
That’s better, one gets much faster around them
You can do it my friend. And yes it’s up and down, but even if you just write a few words, it’s farther than you were before. I’ve been there too. We can both do this. 🙂
Yes, we can and we will – I just have to take a break and write these “pep talk poems” every now and then 🙂
Your pep poems help us both. 🙂
🙂
affirmations never hurt. yours are beautiful!
Thanks Nancy!
I’ve had blissful interludes (seems a long time ago) when the writing just seemed to work, but I think that’s not how it really is, especially if what you are creating has many layers. It is bound to be a struggle in the sense a quest is a struggle. It’s at those margins of frustration, perhaps (?), where new things crop up. Do you know Clarissa Pinkola Estes – Jungian storyteller. “Women who run with wolves.” She has done some fantastic CDs. Can recommend ‘The Creative Fire – 3 discs of unalloyed wisdom about the creative process.
Thanks for your kind comment Tish. I hope being at the margins of frustration will help new inspiration to crop up! I don’t know Clarissa Pinkola Estes but will definitely explore the Creative Fire!
Tiny!!! Somehow, I stopped getting your daily inspirations. I searched you out, and now find you are progressing wonderfully. Good for you – congratulations
Hi there! It’s too early to congratulate. But it has gone better than I expected thanks to much encouragement from blogging friends. Your Grace has also been an inspiration on the road 🙂 I trust she’s doing well! I still have ways to go though. The last part will be slower going…
