So I have returned to Africa
to see the stars sparkle in black velvet skies
and the moon hang heavy over the savannah
to breathe in the early morning mist
slightly scented with smoke
and to finally collect the pieces of my heart
sprinkled under these acacia trees.

p.s. Would you understand if I stayed ?
Sounds like an awesome place to be… I would like to stay in such a place so I would certainly understand if you stayed.
Thank you! My memories from there certainly are special in many ways 🙂
Filled with raw feeling and sophisticated words: the African magic condition.
Very well put! Thanks!
Yes indeed, this post rang some memory bells for me.
Thank you!
Your words paint such a beautiful picture.
Thanks Nancy! The nature in Africa is a bit magical with all its extremes…
Wonderful as always my friend. P.S I would understand if you stayed.
I knew you’d understand! Thanks Jackie.
In fact your poem should bring all of us there and never to leave.
I wish 🙂
Cool!
…and warm at the same time!
“To finally collect pieces of my heart” love that line!
That’s how I often feel…left pieces there so that I will always go back.
I would definitely understand if you didn’t come back…the wanderlust in me…can so relate. The art you created…stunning my friend.
Thanks Laurie! I’m happy you liked my image…worked quite a while on that and it didn’t stir much enthusiasm here at home, but I decided to use it anyway 🙂
Love the postcard image; awesome. And I would completely understand if you stayed in Africa.
I’m happy you too liked the image! And I knew you too would understand…as we both have “history” there. Have a wonderful weekend!
I would understand – this is beautiful…
Thank you Lael!
It is a beautiful post. My husband and I too, dream to visit this amazing continent someday… 🙂
Thank you Takami! I definitely left a part of my heart there…and I am not the only one 🙂
Actually I would understand. Hugs, Barbaea
