Constant drama
carefully brewed daily
furiously engaging
reality show
about climbing the Ladder.
Achievements stringed
like manmade pearls
hanging around the neck
to proudly display
that tremendous success.
While in actuality
(a sad observation)
behind all those accolades
hides the barren landscape
of a burnt out soul.
Now might be the time
to climb down
put both feet firmly on the ground
breath deeply
and finally start living from the heart.

‘start living from the heart’ – maybe the best accolade of all
yes, when you have that, you have it all!
So true! My thoughts were running somewhat along the same lines this morning; your poem is an affirmation. Life is more than how much we achieve or collect.
Thanks! Your haiku was very nice too!

Living with the heart, is all that matters – as hard as it can bee. A wonderful poem along with a lovely photo.
Thanks Otto. I fully agree and I’m happy you liked it.
The poem is lovely. It is beautifully and thoughtfully worded.
Thank you Sheryl. That particular poem was born from my own experience.
Wow. WoW so good. Yes. I’m with you. Wonderful. Thanks Helen.
Happy you liked it David.
Helen, I’ve read your poem many times. It captures a feeling I’m am working hard to understand. The questions, “what does it mean to live from the heart? What does it mean to live in the present? What does it mean to live consciously?” nag away at me. So deep for a slowly unraveling Saturday 🙂
I was struggling with these questions very hard a few years ago, while still climbing. The awareness of the now comes from the heart (and soul) and not from the head …the head would keep us climbing the ladder while life sails by quite unnoticed and without real participation from our side. Thanks for your kind comment.
